☕ Coffee with Grim
Life has a funny way of teaching us lessons… if we’re paying attention.
I had to laugh on a recent trip to visit family because of how much technology has changed the way we travel.
Years ago, before smartphones and GPS, I’d stop at AAA and pick up a custom TripTik, a spiral-bound map tailored made just for my route. It felt high-tech at the time.
Now I simply open Waze, enter my destination, and start driving.
Somewhere along the trip, I made a wrong turn.
Without hesitation, my phone calmly said, “Recalculating.”
It never scolded me. It never told me I had ruined the trip. It didn’t throw up its hands and say, “Figure it out yourself.”
It simply found another way to reach the same destination.
What if we treated our own lives the same way?
Too often, we let one mistake convince us to quit. One bad decision. One setback. One wrong turn. We convince ourselves the journey is over.
But it isn’t.
The destination doesn’t have to change just because the route did.
Life has a remarkable way of recalculating when we’re willing to keep moving forward. The path may look different from what we planned, and it may even take longer than we expected, but a detour isn’t the same as defeat.
Maybe the next time life doesn’t go according to plan, don’t tell yourself you’ve failed.
Just smile and remind yourself… “Recalculating.”
So, before I finish this cup of coffee, let me leave you with one question…
What “wrong turn” in your life ended up teaching you something you couldn’t have learned any other way?
Until next time… keep paying attention.
