Grim’s Journal Entry:
Activity:
I paid for the person behind me in line at Starbucks, a small, unexpected act of kindness.
My journal reflection:
1. Write about a time when you showed kindness to yourself or others:
Recently, I took the time to let a coworker vent about a stressful situation without interrupting or offering solutions. I simply listened, offered support, and validated their feelings. It was a deliberate choice to give them space to feel heard, and it reminded me that sometimes kindness is less about grand gestures and more about presence, patience, and empathy.
2. How did it affect you emotionally?
Being fully present for someone else shifted my own perspective. I felt calmer, more grounded, and deeply connected to another human being. It reminded me of the value of slowing down, listening, and allowing space for others’ emotions. There was a quiet satisfaction in knowing I contributed to easing someone else’s burden, and it reinforced my belief that small, intentional acts of kindness have a ripple effect far beyond the moment.
3. What’s one act of kindness you can prioritize today?
Today, I can prioritize giving my full attention to someone in my life — whether it’s my spouse, a child, a coworker, or even a friend — without distractions. That means putting away my phone, actively listening, and responding with empathy and understanding. By choosing to show up fully, I can offer support and reassurance that is often more meaningful than words or gifts, while also strengthening my relationships and sense of connection.
